Descrizione
The Theatre Royal was built in 1908 and contained a painted dome ceiling. The subject of the painting was inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer’s Night Dream and was executed by G.C. Post from the Carrara Ceiling Company in Wellington. It is the biggest artwork of the Edwardian period in Australasia. Twenty years after the theatre was built, a consultant arrived from Australia to modernise the place.
